John Sara Scholarship
Applications are now available for the John Sara Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship is for one college bound student in the amount of five hundred dollars to the winner who continues on after high school. The scholarship is for any college or trade school. The winner of the scholarship will be determined by a public drawing to be held on May 11th 2018 at our local union meeting.
Rules of the Scholarship
Sons and daughters of present, retired, or deceased TWU Local 2019 members who are now high school seniors (2018 graduates) and who will enter an accredited college or trade school of their choice beginning with the 2018 fall term are eligible. (Must be claimed as a dependent with the IRS).
The Scholarship money is paid by September 2018 directly to the student after proof of enrollment. Application can be secured by mailing the request form. The applicant must be certified twice. First, TWU Local 2019 must certify to the facts that make the applicant eligible. Second, the principal of the high school from which the applicant graduates must attest to the fact that the applicant is capable of doing college work. The applicant must comply with the rules of the Scholarship.

What is the deadline?
All applications must be received at the Local by May 11th, 2018 meeting.
How does a person apply?

How is the winner decided?
By drawing, to be held at the May, 11th union meeting. Winner and alternate will be notified after drawing.
How does the applicant qualify? The applicant must be certified twice. First: TWU Local 2019 must certify to the facts that the applicant is eligible. Second: the principal of the high school will verify to the fact that the applicant is capable of doing college work.
